You watched the teardown. You opened a “pro” Amazon kit. You still don’t know if those bits survive a pentalobe. That’s the gap this lab fills.
FixKit Lab is a workbench / decision-lab for DIY fixers and multi-device tinkerers: choose tools and parts, run repair-vs-replace math, and know when to stop. We are shopping guides — not iFixit manual clones, and not a licensed shop.
On the bench
- Bit steel & coverage — S2 vs soft CR-V; P2, Y000, tri-point — the drivers your device actually uses.
- Opening kit — picks, suction, controlled heat, adhesive that reseals without wishful thinking.
- Parts you’d trust — batteries/screens from sources you’d put against a chassis; caveats on cheap aftermarket.
- Stop conditions — swelling, liquid, parts-pairing risk, active warranty. Bravado isn’t a method.
